Abandoned Vehicle

Introduction

If you believe the report relates more to inconvenient or illegal parking, please contact the police on telephone number 101, the County Council street enforcement team or read our guidance HERE before reporting. We purely deal with abandoned vehicles.

If the car has run out of MOT or CAR TAX but is otherwise in a roadworthy condition, then this again would not meet the criteria as abandoned. Any vehicles which have no tax and MOT should be reported to the DVLA who will deal with the matter.

In order for an Officer to investigate an abandoned vehicle, all reports will go through a triage process. If a number of the criteria are met, then an Officer will be appointed to inspect. If the criteria are not met, then an appointment to inspect will not be offered at this stage:
• Body work is in poor state with parts of the vehicle coming loose
• Flat tyres
• Broken windscreens
• Broken windows
• Burned out
• Containing significant amounts of waste
• And been present for a number of weeks or months

Please see our guidance at Abandoned Vehicles - Rushcliffe Borough Council before reporting.
