Application for help with removal costs - Discretionary Housing Payment

Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) may be awarded to help meet removal costs/Self-Drive Van Hire. There are limited funds of DHP available so this type of award will only be made to those most in need. You should only apply for a DHP to help with removal costs once you have found a property and the landlord agrees that you can rent it. We can only consider an award of DHP if you have a current entitlement to Housing Benefit or the Housing Costs Element of Universal Credit. If you do not receive either you should contact our Housing Options Team who might be able to provide you with some support.

A. Additional information
In support of your application, please provide the following information:
• bank statements showing transactions over a recent two month’s period for all accounts held.
• two written quotations from different removal/Self-Drive Van Hire companies

You will be required to supply bank statements showing all transactions over the last two months to support your application, along with two written quotations from different removal companies. You can upload supporting documentation by scanning the items and uploading on the relevant page if you wish.

You may have to pay these costs first and if your application is successful, we will reimburse you with all or part of the money requested. If you have already paid your removal costs, provide proof of payment such as an invoice or email confirmation from the removal company.

If you do not have access to a scanner or cannot upload the documents, you can provide the statements and quotations in person at the West Bridgford Customer Contact Point, West Bridgford Library, Bridgford Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 6AT or at one of our contact points. Or alternatively, you can post them to Rushcliffe Arena, Rugby Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7YG.
