Kerbside Glass Bin Opt-out Form

The new kerbside glass collection service is being rolled out as part of Central Government’s commitment to ensure all local authorities are compliant with the Environment Act (2021).

While this new service in Rushcliffe is at no additional cost to residents, we recognise that most residents will be keen to recycle their glass from home making it simple and save trips to the recycling centres. Therefore your new glass recycling bin will be delivered in Autumn. This is a 180 litre capacity wheeled bin so slightly smaller and slimmer than the standard 240 litre bins you have now.

We will also be reviewing and removing many existing glass recycling bring sites across the Borough as part of the move to kerbside collections. Your glass will be collected and then colour sorted and separated at the re-processors ensuring we can continue to help your glass be remanufactured into new glass bottles and jars.

Please note that the Council has a statutory duty to collect glass from the kerbside as part of the Simpler Recycling changes.

Further work will be undertaken on the best collection options for communal bin stores and flat complexes where different receptacles for glass and other recyclables may be more appropriate.

If you have questions about your new bin please visit our simpler recycling website at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/simplerrecycling.

If you feel you can’t recycle your glass at home please complete the short form below and we will be in touch.
